Jeff Neil is a practicing pediatric neurologist specializing in neonatal neurology. He obtained his MD and PhD in neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis. After completing his clinical training, he worked in the lab of Joseph Ackerman to learn magnetic resonance imaging. His research is focused on the application of MR methods to the study of early brain development and the effects of brain injury on this process.
He has a particular interest in cortical development, and has examined cortical maturation in preterm infants from both a structural (via diffusion MRI) and functional (via functional connectivity MRI) standpoint. He has also applied cortical cartography methods to the evaluation of aberrant cortical folding in preterm infants.
